The Steel Remains by Richard Morgan is his first book in fantasy. I've been a big fan of Richard Morgan's science fiction for a while now. The Steel Remains, and my attention is captured. Archeth Indamaninarnal - A human-kiriath half-breed who was left behind when the rest of her race abandoned the world in their 'fireships' due to her mixed blood. Hardcore dark fantasy that's as bloody as it is sexually explicit. Look for Will's interview with Wil Wheaton later this year. By Jeff VanderMeer Special to Omnivoracious, by Will Hindmarch. "We're none of us what we once were," says the rakish war hero, Ringil, in Richard K. It's almost like a proto-political tendency or something. Morgan is known for writing Sci-Fi but as we all know, there can be a lot of overlaps in both genres. I'm thinking of Richard Morgan's The Steel Remains and its sequel, and, to an even greater extent, the Joe Abercrombie books, which are almost unbearably bleak. Morgan is apparently best known for writing very gritty, fast-paced science fiction, and does it ever show. I wish I could remember who suggested The Steel Remains (Ian?), because I simultaneously enjoyed it and was annoyed by its tedium and would love to talk to someone who really enjoyed it.
